My 2007 Honda Pilot that I purchased brand new and have owned for less than 2 years is developing rust all over the vehicle. Honda has tried to clay bar the rust out but it returned the very next day. Now Honda wants to sand and repaint the entire vehicle. I am not comfortable with this and since I paid for a factory finish- that's what I want on my brand new car. How does an aftermarket finish compete with a factory finish? Will the cars value diminish considering it had been entirely repainted??How does factory paint job compare to aftermarket paint job?
The value will not diminish if it is re-painted at the same color using good material in a car oven.Ask for warranty about rust coming back.
After painting ask when one could wax the vehicle.

A blonde, wanting to earn some money, decided to hire herself out as a handyman-type and started canvassing a wealthy neighborhood. She went to the front door of the first house and asked the owner if he had any jobs for her to do.
';Well, you can paint my porch. How much will you charge?';
The blonde said, ';How about 50 dollars?'; The man agreed and told her that the paint and ladders that she might need were in the garage. The man's wife, inside the house, heard the conversation and said to her husband, ';Does she realize that the porch goes all the way around the house?';

ok i got a 1991 Camaro that needs a new paint job and was looking to get it to look like this car

my friend painted his guitar with just tape and spray paint and it came out pretty sick can any one tell me how to custom paint my guitar with tape and spray paint and tell me what to do!!!! he made his guitar kinda like this one

I wouldn't take the neck off, you will have a heck of a time with it.
Take off the strings, tone knobs, pickups, and pickguard. You can paint the pickguard any color you want once it is off. Now just paint whatever base color you want, (like the yellow in your picture) and let it dry. Once that is dry, then tape whatever design you want on the guitar, and paint it again with a different color. Once that is dry, peel off the tape, and you will have your design in the base color.
If you leave the neck on, make sure you tape over it about 6 or 7 frets up, to avoid painting the neck.Guitar paint job help!!!?

Then start spraying away. :D

first do the lightest color and spray paint the whole body.if you want the stripes to be the lightest color then after painting it put tape(good paint)where you want the stripes to be,and make sure it goes on good or else the top layer will leak through.then after the tapes on use the darker color on top,then when it's dry remove the tape.
for darker color stripes do the lighter color all over the body and then put tape everywhere you want the light color,leaving lines to later add your darker color stripes.this is a little harder to tape than the first option but that's how you do it

Actually look even later than that, check out DW's Dew and Gatorade schemes to see what I mean. Jr's as much a fan as he is a driver and was looking to use one a back in the day paint sceme, which is pretty much what he did. Although I'm still getting used to not looking for the #8 Budweiser though.

I got to see beautiful homes, travel, meet all kinds of people and learn alt! At the Art School I attended,( I was doing model homes childrens rooms) the students told me I was ';prostituting'; my work-but, you know, they were busing tables and I was working in paint-plus I always got to go to the grand opening parties and take a ride on the boats/ships I worked on-so I didn't really much care. Its been a wild ride, no laziness, educate yourself in art forms and history. Be cleaner than when you came in and always dress and act professionally-which means the extra mile. I can't twell you how many jobs I finished for other artists because they just stopped showing up! (Stupid)

Sometimes the light in the restaurant is too dark or too glaring and you have to find ways to work around that.
But it's great when you finish a mural and you know that it will be on that wall forever for all to see!

Help with an ugly paint job!!?
I painted my bathroom this weekend. I chose Behr's Crushed Orange because on the internet it looked really nice. Well....it's much more orange than I anticipated and now I feel like I'm peeing in a giant pumpkin. I was hoping for a warm Southwestern-y feel...is there something I can put over it to tone it down? Or does anyone know a color that will cover orange well??? Thanks!Help with an ugly paint job!!?
I am not familiar with Behr, but generally there is nothing you can put over it to tone it down. If you like the tone you can add white to some more and repaint.
All colours will cover orange, you just might have to do a couple of extra coats. And contrary to popular DIY belief, there is no need to prime or use Kilz. Primer is for bare surfaces and a few problem surfaces. Just buy quality paint which will therefore have a high pigment content to obliterate the orange colour.
Choosing paint colours always is a slight gamble. Swatch cards will often be different with ech run at the printers, each machine can or factory batch may be slightly different to the rest. A flat paint will also show scratches. It's paint. The only thing that won't show scratches is possibly bare metal unless you start hitting guard rails. You wouldn't really want to spray rhinoliner on your car it would look pretty bad, it may hinder opening doors/windows/hood/trunk, and it's hard to get an even coat.
any body shop can do what you want to do but forget the rhino lining paint job as that would look horrible after driven in the rain or a salt covered road, you would have to use a brush to get your car clean to get all the dirt out of the lining.
You can get a flat grey or black paint that looks like primer, but it's seals and durable. It basically doesnt show any of the typical scratches and micro swirl marks that ya get with most clearcoat paint jobs. Most reputable auto paint shops can do this. Heres an example of how it looks....

How many color coats should a car have? and after the car is painted the next step is the clear coat... once i put the first coat of clear how many minutes should i wait after applying the second coat of clear and then the third and final coat. last question what do i use to clean the spray guns and avoid getting clog by the paint.Car paint job question?

BAD PAINT JOB ON HOUSE? CONTRACTOR full of excuses!!?
HE WAS CONTRACTED MID JULY TO PAINT OUSTIDE OF OUR HOUSE AND STILL HASN'T FINISHED BY THE BEGINNING OF SEPTEMBER!!!!!
We paid him half up front, with the balance to be paid on completion. The contract we signed said he would be finished no later than August 9th.
The job he has done so far is patchy in places, dribbles of different color of paint runnning down side, bare exposed wood in parts etc, etc, .
He always has excuses , turns up when he likes ! Rarely has done a full days work.
HELP...Legally can he come after us for balance if we find someone else to finish this botched job.....

My suggestion would be to take pictures of the job he's done so far (you can also include in the picture the day's paper with the date legible). If he does decide to take you to court for the balance due, you'll have both the contract stating completion date and pictures proving the job wasn't completed on time nor in a professional manor.
I would go ahead and hire another painter to do my house. And if the original painter sues you, countersue for the half you paid him.

As for the money up front thing, it really isnt uncommon for contractors to ask for a certain percentage up front, especially if they are buying supplies etc. just dont give him any MORE money, whatever you do. that shows that you are satisfied with what he has done so far. go get estimates from other contractors and their opinions as well. try asking friends/family/neighbors for contractors they have used and reccomend.
This is a hrad lesson learned. Always check for a contractors license and never give money up front. That is a huge red flag. Any contractor worth his weight will get his money AFTER the job is done.

GM vehicles have had orange peel for years. Sometimes they come out pretty good and other times they have horrible orange peel. It is considerably better than it was 10 years ago, but I doubt that they will ever fix it completely. It's caused by laying the clear on too thick or overly quick evaporation of the reducer. Since the introduction of ';bake booths'; at factories, they never have gotten it quite right. The paint cures too fast and the reducer evaporates out before the clear can cure while it's still smooth. No matter how expensive they may be, Corvette's are still production line vehicles, and they are going to have finish blemishes. It's just the nature of the beast. High end cars, Ferrari, Porsche, etc. are wet sanded and buffed before they ever leave the factory. If the orange peel you see is toward the bottom or the car, then it is there on purpose to protect the paint from road tar and grime. It is stronger paint that resists scratching.

The yahoo article on ';Letterman guy'; is poorly written. It lists the offences for which he was convicted, then states that he was sentenced to 10 years for overcharging him (the 10 years is for all of the offences combined).
The woman was convicted of manslaughter - and as I am sure you are aware, killing, murder, and manslaughter are not all identical.

Although I myself have not bought one I know people who have. Here's my two cents. I think if you do a good job on the prep work (take your time) i.e. get the car scuffed up well wet sand the whole thing thoughly w/220 then go back over it w/ 320 do any body work you feel nessacary for the quality end result you want. and remove all the trim possible. The end result should be fairly durable and the car won't look too bad, unless it's a ricer, then it's a lost cause. I've seen some of the three hundred dollar paint jobs that don't look too bad. a paint job is only as good as what's underneath so take your time and I think you'll be happy w/ the end result.Has anyone had any luck with one of those $300 paint jobs on an older vehicle?
depends on what your going for. if your going for factory looking paint then the $300 wont come close. it will be more like joe smoe hiting it up with some fancy spray paint. if done right it should last a long time but doesnt look that good.

I just wanted to add.....when I insisted that I just wanted a new paint job on the truck or I wanted a truck without the scratches, the dealership managaer said they are not allowed to swipe out cars and that in order to get a new paint job Chrysler would have to approve it, which is rare. The paint job is also I guess you could say wavey looking when you look at it from an angle....but I can see that the scratches the shine rainbow colors when the sun hits them...is under the clear coat.....So I guess my questions is.....is there anything they can do other than repaint the truck....and if not....who do I go to, to insist on another truck that looks brand new? Also, they said the truck I would be getting would have the ';new black color'; black with silver metallic speckles in it....well this one is just jet black....I hear that all the 2006 dodges are black with silver metallic.....is it possible that when the plant painted this one they just screwed up all together? If you get the truck repainted, make sure that Chyrsler will warranty the work. Otherwise 3 years from now, you will be able to tell the parts that were painted over.
If you repaint the truck it will look worse and be worth less. Orange peel can be polished out. It just means there's plenty of paint there to polish.
as far as the orange peel goes all factory paint jobs have it....you can get rid of the orange peel by water sanding with 2000 grit wet/dry sandpaper and the buffing with 3m compound and a high speed buffer...then machine glazing it with 3m machine glaze and a high speed buffer...but you would want to have a body shop do this if you have never done it before...as far as the rest of these answers they must have wanted a cheap paint job and went and got just THAT..A CHEAP PAINT JOB...if repainted correctly and the shop is left alone to do their job(not called on everyday to see if they are finished) the paint jobs are usually better than factory!!!!

If they give you any grief about trying to return the vehicle, threaten to talk to a lawyer. If they don't buy it, make good on the threat. A lawyer from your area will be most familiar with any laws on getting out of the lease contract. Also, if the TV stations in your area are anything like mine, they have people who publicly expose grievances about local businesses, so call them. At the very least, consider contacting the Better Business Bureau. Most importantly, avoid this dealership in the future. There are crooked dealerships, and there are honest dealerships. Unfortunately, you seem to have discovered the first kind. Good luck!

There was a show on either VH1 or MTV which stated that a celebrity had a 500,000 dollar paint job on their vehicle. I am pretty sure it was a ferrari. Paint job crisis?
I got a 1997 suzuki katana for $2000. Me n my dad took the plastics off n sanded them n whatnot... hes giving these farings to a shop thats gona paint it for almost free, but with some bootleg goofy plain color. I have a paint in mind (link below), is there a way to buy this paint and give it to the shop just to spray it? If so...whats the price n how much paint should i buy?

A crummy body kit after a year or two with cracks missing pieces ugly spoiler will really make your car look like crud. This is why specific paint prices are so high. I would check with your local area Audi dealership to see if they do the paint locally, or if they use an accredited shop off site. I know that there are a lot of factors in using an on-site shop through Audi that raise the price, but if they work with an off-site shop you can usually call them yourself and see what kind of deals they are willing to work.

Switch your phone for one that is free or very inexpensive. You can get a lot of very cool cell phones for $50 these days. All the providers are trying to prevent you from switching to AT%26amp;T and buying the iPhone so they will be giving good phones away to keep you as a customer.

Problem with paint job?
hi,
i painted a part and it came up very nicely.. now i have 2 other parts to paint (different parts) and when i spray them with paint, the paint keep accumulating at the edges of the part, hence does not look good in these areas... i tried spraying little by little but it still does the same... any idea how i can do it? thanksProblem with paint job?
The method/technique is to apply light even coats. When you spray you want to build the paint up with several layers of paint. Insure you use a sweeping action and don鈥檛 spray in one area for a long period. Not too close or too far away.
I used to refinish furniture and I used these steps to get an excellent cover. No runs, dips drips or sags.

If you are referring to the end, angle, or separation of the piece, you might need to sand it a little, and when you are spraying, spray in one felt swoop, right across, laterally onto it, swiping widely, and lightly... once, twice, thrice.. and stop... leave it.. see if it still accumulates there. SHAKE the can up well, and rinse the nozzle off carefully, with warm water too...

Spoiler corrosion? Paint job? New spoiler?
My black car recently started to get spots of grey corrosion on the spoiler . It's pretty noticeable although it's very small scale at the moment. According to other Mitsubishi owners, this is quite common and was a defect with the carbon fiber on the cars. My car is well past its warranty. How much is a paint job? Or should I get a new one?
