So i took my car to a shop, and the guy told me he was going to give me a full professional paint job. Now.... is he require to get rid of the orange peel after the finish? or does that cost extra money... isn't wet sanding buffing, and polishing after the clear coat finish part of a a full professional paint job? Thanks..Auto Body question about paint job?
Maaco does ';professional'; paint jobs for $195. After all, they make a living doing it so it's professional.
I suspect you will be getting a ';factory quality job'; which frequently has orange peel. Sometimes it comes that way from the factory. What you are describing is what I would call a ';show quality'; paint job. Expect a show quality job to cost $10,000+ compared to perhaps $2,500 for a factory quality paint job.Auto Body question about paint job?
A body shop can not reproduce the factory paint job. Auto makers use what they call an electrostatic process.
The car body is charged with and electrical charge and paint is charged with a equal but opposite charge. The opposite charges attract each other.
But yes it is possible to wet sand and buff out he orange peel, but you have to apply multiple coats of paint first, so you have something to sand down, and automotive paint is very expensive, and sanding adds more labor charges.
If he was a good painter there wouldn't be any orange peel. Sounds like a poor job.
