Car paint job question?

How many color coats should a car have? and after the car is painted the next step is the clear coat... once i put the first coat of clear how many minutes should i wait after applying the second coat of clear and then the third and final coat. last question what do i use to clean the spray guns and avoid getting clog by the paint.Car paint job question?
2 color coats. spray first then color sand with 1200. then reapply another coat of paint. as far as clear goes spray then wait a few minutes or so. if it runs you can knock the drops of with 2000 or 1500 wet. use higher grades of WET sandpaper when color sanding your final coat. then cut and buff with a cutting a buffing pad. Us 3M pads as the proper buffing materials. im a certified painter in northern cali.Car paint job question?
apply color until ';hiding'; is achieved. (some colors are more transparent than others). do a small test panel and count the number of coats it takes you. also it will depend on your spary equiptment. your local paint store will have test panels that will indicate coverage. in other words. you dont want to put to few color coats on, other wise you will be able to see through the paint.
