About how much does car paint jobs cost, and do they ever do just one part at a time?

I would like to get my hood done and the side panels over the two front tires because they were apart of an unfortunate wax job that made my car all spotted just on the front, everything from the doors back looks fine but I do want to get the front of the car repainted black (the original color.) Does paint shops do only segments or would I have to get the whole car done and about how much does this cost? Thanks.About how much does car paint jobs cost, and do they ever do just one part at a time?
A complete paint job by a shop that will actually do a good job would be at least $2,000-$4,000. I've never had a car partially painted (that I paid for), so I can't really give an opinion on the price. I did have a car partially painted (paid for by insurance) and they had to paint about half of the car (only the trunk and bumper were damaged) to get it right. This is because the car had metallic paint. Any time a car has metallic paint (almost any color except red, white, and black are going to be metallic) it is extremely difficult to paint only one section and have it look right. This is because there are tiny little flecks of metal in the paint, and they reflect light. If the paint is not applied in the same manner (direction, etc.) as the original paint job (even if the paint is the exact same color), it will look different. It is for this reason that they usually have to paint a larger portion of the car than you would expect, so they can blend the paint into the existing paint job, so it doesn't look so noticable.About how much does car paint jobs cost, and do they ever do just one part at a time?
if your only doing a part of the car you want someone who knows what they are doing because of natural fading, you don't want the front to be brighter than the rear. depending on the vehicle and the type of paint . . I had a 1977 Catalina Safari Station Wagon painted bright yellow .. 5 years ago it cost 3600.00, I removed all the chrome off the car before I dropped it off . . they would have charged 1800.00 to remove and reinstall the chrome. No body work at all was done just sand prime and paint.
they will do a prtial but it would cost only a little more to have the entire car redone to the same color all the way around. the price depends on the quality of work. A $500 job will get you a crappy job. A good paint job should be about $2000 and up if done right
The whole car may not need to be painted. Many times a wrecked car will only have the replaced parts painted.

It usually depends on the age and color of the existing paint. Paint color can fade with age. Certain colors fade more than others. This makes matching the existing paint more difficult.

Black is usually easier to match. But when painting black, the body work under the paint must be perfect as black will show every defect.

A complete paint job can cost thousands of dollars. Spot painting may cost only a few hundred dollars, depending on the prep work required.

I suggest getting at least three estimates from reputable body shops before proceeding.
